Telangana CM Orders Surprise School Inspections to Boost Quality of Education

Hyderabad, June 26, 2025: Inspections in government schools, infrastructure gaps, nutritious mid-day meals in Telangana . In a major push to strengthen the public education system, Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has directed officials to conduct surprise inspections at two government schools every week. This initiative aims to identify gaps in infrastructure, inclusivity, and essential facilities such as mid-day meal kitchens across schools in the state.

Focus on Ground-Level Monitoring

During a recent high-level review meeting, CM Revanth Reddy emphasized the need for consistent ground-level monitoring to ensure that government schools meet basic standards. Officials from the education department, local bodies, and district administrations have been instructed to personally visit schools—preferably without prior notice—to evaluate:

✅ School building conditions
✅ Classroom and toilet facilities
✅ Kitchen hygiene and meal quality
✅ Teacher attendance and student enrollment
✅ Inclusivity for marginalized and differently-abled students

The Chief Minister stated, “We cannot compromise on the quality of education or student safety. Every child deserves proper infrastructure, nutritious meals, and an environment that encourages learning.”

Inspections in Government Schools Addressing Long-standing Issues

The Telangana government has been under pressure to revamp public schools, especially after reports surfaced highlighting:

  • Crumbling infrastructure in remote areas
  • Irregular mid-day meal services in some districts
  • Shortage of qualified teachers
  • Lack of accessible facilities for differently-abled students

By initiating regular inspections, the government hopes to bring accountability, identify critical gaps, and ensure timely interventions.

Holistic Development Approach

This step aligns with Telangana’s broader education reform agenda, which includes:

Upgrading digital learning tools
Modernizing classrooms under the “Mana Ooru Mana Badi” program
Recruiting more qualified teaching staff
Ensuring safe, nutritious mid-day meals

Education activists have welcomed the decision but urge authorities to publish inspection findings transparently and involve local communities in monitoring efforts.

With this new directive, Telangana’s leadership signals its commitment to improving public education standards. The success of this initiative will depend on consistent action, community participation, and transparent reporting of outcomes.
