Hyderabad, July 2025: The Telangana Government has taken a significant step to address Hyderabad’s rising water needs by approving the massive ₹7,360 crore Godavari Water Augmentation Project (Phase-III). This Godavari Water Project aims to supply an additional 20 TMC of treated Godavari water to Hyderabad and its fast-expanding outskirts, ensuring safe and continuous drinking water for the next decade. The Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply & Sewerage Board (HMWS&SB) has finalized the tender process and is preparing to lay the foundation stone, with the ceremony expected to be attended by Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy
Project Overview
With Hyderabad’s population and infrastructure expanding rapidly, the demand for Hyderabad’s Drinking Water Supply has increased manifold. The newly sanctioned project, spearheaded by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, focuses on enhancing water supply to areas within the Outer Ring Road (ORR), including urban, semi-urban, and rural regions.
