In a significant anti-corruption operation, the Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) arrested three government officials on 10 July 2025 for accepting a ₹15,000 bribe. The arrests took place in Zaheerabad, Sangareddy district, and involved officials working under the National Investment and Manufacturing Zone (NIMZ).
The ACB caught the following officials red-handed during a trap operation:
- Raja Reddy – Special Deputy Collector (Land Acquisition)
- Satish – Deputy Tahsildar
- Durgaiah – Office driver
The Bribe Demand
The bribe was allegedly demanded to clear land acquisition documents for a 3-acre land parcel in Huselli village. A complainant, who had applied for compensation, reported the officials after they demanded:
- ₹15,000 from Satish to process the paperwork
- An additional ₹1 lakh from Durgaiah to expedite compensation for the complainant’s differently-abled brother
ACB Action :Telangana ACB arrests
Acting swiftly on the complaint, ACB officials laid a trap, government officials arrested for bribe and recovered ₹15,000 from Satish. All three officials were subjected to chemical testing, arrested, and produced before the ACB Special Court in Nampally.
Legal Proceedings
The ACB is continuing its investigation to identify any wider corruption network in land acquisition processes at NIMZ Zaheerabad. More arrests could follow as the inquiry unfolds.
The arrests have triggered renewed debate about transparency in land compensation and misuse of power by revenue officials. Locals have demanded stringent action and full digitization of land records to prevent future bribes.
