Hyderabad, August 13, 2025 — Telangana CM Revanth Reddy has announced an ambitious plan to strengthen eco-tourism and wildlife protection across the state, aiming to balance environmental conservation with sustainable tourism growth.

Under the new directives, forest surveillance systems will be upgraded by integrating high-resolution cameras directly with the Hyderabad Command Control Centre, enabling real-time monitoring of protected areas. This move is expected to help track illegal activities, prevent poaching, and ensure quick emergency responses in forest zones.

Key Initiatives Announced.

  • Eco-Tourism Development:
    • Expansion of tourist facilities in Amrabad and Kawal Tiger Reserves.
    • Introduction of nature trails, guided safaris, and eco-friendly accommodation to attract responsible tourists.
  • Zoo Upgrades:
    • Major expansion plans for Warangal Zoo.
    • Development of a new zoo under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model to boost regional tourism.
  • Wildlife Protection Measures:
    • Faster compensation for farmers affected by wildlife attacks.
    • Recruitment and deployment of additional forest staff to strengthen patrolling.
    • Increased funding for forest restoration projects.

CM Revanth Reddy emphasised that eco-tourism should be a tool for both conservation and livelihood creation. “We will protect our forests and wildlife while ensuring that local communities benefit from tourism,” he said.

Economic & Environmental Impact

Experts believe these measures will:

  • Increase tourist footfall in rural and forest regions.
  • Create new income streams for tribal and local communities.
  • Enhance biodiversity conservation in key wildlife corridors.

With Telangana’s rich natural reserves and cultural heritage, the state government aims to position it as a top eco-tourism hub in India over the next five years.
