On June 18, Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy inaugurated Google’s cutting-edge Safety Engineering Centre in Kondapur, Hyderabad. The launch event was also attended by IT Minister D. Sridhar Babu, marking a significant milestone in India’s digital safety journey.
Hyderabad just got a major tech upgrade! Google has officially launched its first-ever Safety Engineering Centre (GSEC) in the Asia-Pacific region, and it’s right here in our own city. This is a huge deal — not just for Hyderabad, but for the entire country.
What is Google Safety Engineering Centre in Hyderabad
With the internet growing every second, keeping people safe online is more important than ever. Google’s new centre is going to focus on building tools that protect users from things like online abuse, scams, and misinformation. It’s not just for India either — this centre will serve all of Asia-Pacific.

Here’s what the engineers and teams at this new facility will be working on:

Why Hyderabad?
Well, it’s no surprise. How Google is improving online safety in India and Hyderabad has already made a name for itself as one of India’s biggest tech cities. Big names like Microsoft, Amazon, Facebook — and now Google — have huge operations here. The talent pool is amazing, the infrastructure is solid, and the vibe is all about innovation.
This new centre makes Hyderabad one of only two cities in the world to have a Google Safety Engineering Centre — the other one is in Germany!
Google’s role in India’s digital transformation
This move fits perfectly into the government’s push for a safer, more secure digital India. It shows that India isn’t just using technology — we’re leading the way in making tech safer and smarter for everyone.
Google also said they’ll be working with Indian schools, NGOs, and policymakers to spread awareness about online safety and build tools that work for our unique challenges.
Whether you’re a student, parent, working employee or running business, online safety affects all of us. And now, Hyderabad is at the heart of making the internet a better place — not just for Indians, but for millions across Asia.
This is more than just a building — it’s a sign of what’s to come.
